If I wanted you back you’d probably wonder why like after all this time would my mind think of coming back to you, and I could give you some simple answer say it’s how you look But that wouldn’t even cover half the reasons you’d choose Yeah you got those pretty eyes The kind that makes it hard not to fall into.

Glasses on or off

Either way they’re catching me inside

Making me melt without you realizing

Rocking your body in the clothes I like

But looks ain’t really where it stops

That’s just the first thing that I notice

It’s how you carry what you’ve been through Without making everything about it,

You’ve changed

Not into somebody different

More like somebody who finally knows

What deserves her attention

That’s why I’d want you,

But It ain’t something I can decided overnight you have to tell me what you want there’s a way that you look, a way that you think, a way you’ve built yourself a life with your own dreams

“Why me what exactly do you see”

I’d probably need all night

To tell you what I think of you

Not cuz I couldn’t think of anything but for how much I’ve already been gone on thinking of things

I see somebody handling responsibilities

Still finding ways to work on who she wants to be taking care of multiple activities dealing with little ones doing what needs to be done While still remembering you’re your own person when the day is all gone

You’ve got your own way of moving now

you’ve learned what you’re proud of

What you’ve won, Who gets close

And who gets kept out

And maybe that means

I don’t automatically get a place anymore

I understand that

I’ve taken my time

You lived a whole lot of life

I’m not expecting one conversation

To put everything back overnight

But I remember what we had though

The conversations getting longer than expected Being comfortable around each other Those little moments I never really questioned Back then they were normal

Now I look back and realize

There were things about you

I didn’t appreciate enough at the time

That’s why I’d want you,

Not because I’m trying to recreate the past

I’m looking at who you are right now

And it hits different than that

A Pretty face yeah obviously that’s true

But beauty only gets my attention

It wouldn’t keep my mind on you

Your independence,

How you’ve grown into yourself

I don’t want some version from years ago

I’m interested in who you are now

I know you’re question my timing

Like, “Why suddenly show up now”

And it’s a fair question

Truth is sometimes distance

Makes certain things stand out

You remember somebody differently
