The Betrayal Thing

Year after year

Still watching everybody do the same old shit,

Relationships fall people losing themselves,

Putting everything they got into somebody else.

I can speak on it ’cause I did it before,

Couple years back, broke trust, suffered a war,

Not only with her, broke the trust in myself,

Had to look at what I did couldn’t blame no one else Had to learn, had to grow, had to change that role, Learn what loyalty means when you’re losing control Never again, ’cause I remember the pain,

Both walked away in anguish, hope to forget but it’s always happening to Different people still, same story, different lovers, same ending, they got something good but gambling instead, you’ll want it all back when the damage is spread

Why does humankind do the betrayal thing

Got love in our hands, still destroying everything

Like something deep inside keeps pulling at the strings Knowing what we could lose still risking anything

Why does humankind do the betrayal thing truth gets buried while the lies start settling in we can blame temptation, we can blame whatever we say But at the end of the day we decide what we bring.

Seen it growing up, yeah, I watched it firsthand,

Saw the choices of my father become part of whats began. “Do what I say, don’t do what I do,”

But a child learns actions before they learn the truth Then walked that road without knowing the route Till I became what I swore I would never turn out That ain’t an excuse, that’s a lesson I learned

If you don’t stop the cycle then the cycle returns

Why’s it hard staying loyal when you got something real Why trade years of trust for a temporary thrill

Got the right one there but your eyes still roam

Then you’re begging them to stay when they’re already gone That voice in your head saying, “Nobody will know,” That’s the same voice digging holes inside your soul. Every lie needs another just to keep it alive Till you’re looking at your lover with a stranger’s eyes Feeling every moan that they sigh behind closed doors, and act like hearts heal without leaving a scar, Like betrayal disappears ’cause you said that you’re sorry I’ve been there, I know what it costs Sometimes learning what you had comes after it’s lost.

Unfortunately people got reasons to be afraid.

Some stop dating, stop trying, stop opening doors ’Cause they’re tired of giving trust just to watch it get torn. Not everybody cheats, I ain’t saying they do some people are keeping it solid n keeping it true But you never really know what somebody might hide. a lot of us promise but then we cite lies
