In the upper room they gathered,
Mary praying in their midst;
the Apostles stood united,
waiting for the Father’s gift.
Then a mighty wind from Heaven
filled the house with holy fire;
tongues of flame came down upon them
as the Spirit raised hearts higher.
Not a sign invented by mankind,
nor emotion passing by;
this was God fulfilling fully
what Christ promised from on high.
Jesus said: “You shall receive power
when My Spirit comes to you,”
and the fearful became witnesses,
proclaiming what is true.
(Pre-Chorus)
Come, Holy Spirit, guide Your people,
lead us in the truth of Christ;
for the Church was born at Pentecost
through the fire of holy life.
(Chorus)
Come, Holy Spirit, fill our hearts,
renew the earth with heavenly grace;
You are the promise of the Father,
the living fire no sin can erase.
One in being with the Father,
one with Jesus Christ the Son;
You are not merely power or feeling,
You are God, the Holy One.
(Verse 2)
The flames above the heads of believers
did not make them gods divine;
they revealed the Spirit’s presence,
sanctifying human lives.
As once God spoke through fire to Moses,
now His Spirit speaks again;
calling every tribe and nation
to repentance from all sin.
And the tongues they spoke were real tongues,
understood by many lands;
signs that Christ now sends His Gospel
to all peoples by His hand.
Not confusion, not disorder,
for the Spirit brings true peace;
every gift must serve the Kingdom
and lead souls to Christ complete.
(Bridge)
The dove recalls the Jordan River
where Christ was revealed to the world;
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
one eternal God adored.
The Spirit does not replace Jesus,
nor speak separate from His Word;
He reminds the Church forever
of the teachings of the Lord.
And Mary there among the faithful
shows the Church in prayer united;
honored as the Mother of Jesus,
yet all worship belongs to God.
For the Mother of the Savior
prayed beside the newborn Church;
pointing every soul to Jesus,
never seeking Heaven’s throne.
(Verse 3)
Peter stood with holy boldness,
once afraid, now filled with grace;
through the Spirit’s power within him
thousands turned to seek God’s face.
Then the Church began her mission:
to baptize and preach the Word,
to proclaim forgiveness through Jesus
and the authority Christ bestowed.
This same Spirit still is guiding
the Church that Christ established;
not inventing new religions,
but protecting what He gave.
Through Sacred Scripture and Tradition,
through the Sacraments of grace,
God continues pouring mercy
upon every time and place.
(Final)
Come, Holy Spirit, light the nations,
set our hearts on fire again;
make us faithful to the Gospel,
steadfast witnesses till the end.
Lead us always into holiness,
keep us faithful to the Cross;
for the Church belongs to Jesus,
purchased by His precious loss.
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
Three in Persons, One alone;
glory, honor, praise eternal
to the everlasting God.
Come Holy Spirit, renew the face of the earth
