Many point accusing fingers at Peter
because one night he denied the Lord;
fearing the judgment of men,
he hid the voice of his Master.
Three times he fell into silence
while the rooster loudly cried;
and tears of true repentance
broke his heart inside.
But before becoming an apostle,
Paul himself once persecuted;
the disciples of Christ
he violently imprisoned.
While Stephen was being martyred,
Saul stood there approving still;
thinking he was serving Heaven,
he wounded the Church of the Lord’s will.
(Pre-Chorus)
Who can call himself righteous
when all have fallen in sin?
How many times through our actions
have we rejected Christ within?
Not only does he deny the Savior
who says, “I do not know Him”;
the one who walks in darkness also
betrays the Lord through sin.
(Chorus)
Christ did not come for the righteous
who never need forgiveness and grace;
He came in search of sinners
to heal the human heart.
Peter fell… yet was restored;
Paul persecuted… yet was transformed;
for the grace of Christ is greater
than the sinner’s deepest fault.
In one way or another
we all have denied the Lord;
when pride begins to rule us,
when love grows cold within the soul.
Every hidden sin we cherish,
every rejection of His voice,
silently pierces once more
the wounds of Christ our Lord.
(Pre-Chorus)
There is no sin so deep
that His grace cannot overcome;
if the soul humbles itself before Christ,
new life can truly come.
Yet Christ looks upon us with mercy,
not with a desire to condemn;
and to the soul that returns repentant
He offers peace again.
Upon the shore He called to Peter:
“Do you love Me?” He asked;
and the persecutor on the road to Damascus
was overcome by Heaven’s light at last.
(Pre-Chorus)
There is no sin so deep
that His grace cannot overcome;
if the soul humbles itself before Christ,
new life can truly come.
(Chorus)
Christ did not come for the righteous
who never need forgiveness and grace;
He came in search of sinners
to heal the human heart.
Peter fell… yet was restored;
Paul persecuted… yet was transformed;
for the grace of Christ is greater
than the sinner’s deepest fault.
(Bridge)
Do not condemn your brother
while forgetting your own frailty;
only God fully knows
the battle within the human heart.
The same Peter who once wept bitterly
later strengthened the faith;
and Paul, once a persecutor,
gave his very life for Christ.
(Final)
Lord, whenever I fail You,
do not cast me from Your love;
draw me back in true repentance
into Your arms of mercy above.
May I never live condemning others,
but always seeking conversion;
for every soul stands in need
of Your infinite salvation.
(Chorus)
Christ did not come for the righteous
who never need forgiveness and grace;
He came in search of sinners
to heal the human heart.
Peter fell… yet was restored;
Paul persecuted… yet was transformed;
for the grace of Christ is greater
than the sinner’s deepest fault.
