You never stopped chasing me

I still remember my first encounter,

Hands raised high, heart wide open.

Your presence felt like coming home,

And I knew I’d never walk alone.

I sang Your praises without fear,

Felt Heaven drawing near.

I gave You all that I had,

Certain this fire would always last.

I crossed oceans in Your name,

Told the broken of Your grace.

Saw Your goodness change lives,

Watched hope come alive.

But slowly my heart grew cold,

Compromise took its hold.

The things I swore I’d never do,

Became the chains I ran to.

I searched for life in empty things,

Trying to silence what I couldn’t heal.

I ran from truth, I hid in shame,

But I still heard You call my name.

You never stopped chasing me,

Even when I ran away.

You never stopped loving me,

Even in my darkest days.

When I thought that I was too far gone,

You whispered, “Child, come home.”

Mercy met me where I’d been,

And taught my heart to hope again.

I hit the bottom of my silence,

Tired of fighting all alone.

With trembling hands I reached for help,

Unsure if You’d still want me close.

But You were waiting in the ruins,

Not with anger, but with grace.

You took the pieces of my life,

And began to rebuild what I could not save.

I am not my addiction.

I am not my shame.

I am not my failures.

I am not my mistakes.

I am a son redeemed by mercy,

A story only You could write.

Every scar now testifies,

That Your love never left my side.

You never stopped chasing me,

Even when I ran away.

You never stopped loving me,

Even in my darkest days.

Now I’m learning how to trust,

One surrender at a time.

I’m rebuilding what was broken,

With Your healing by my side.

I may not be where I want to be,

But thank God I’m not where I’ve been.

This isn’t the end of my story.

It’s the beginning of walking with You again.

Jesus… thank You for never giving up on me.
