“Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word.” Luke 1:38
“As by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by one man’s obedience many will be made righteous.” Romans 5:19
Verse 1
In the garden long ago,
when the world was young and fair,
God had placed His children there
within His loving care.
But a voice of doubt was spoken,
and a choice was made in fear;
the gift of life was wounded,
and sorrow entered here.
The first Eve heard the serpent,
and trusted in his lie;
the door was opened wide to sin,
and death began to rise.
Yet God did not abandon
the children of His hand;
He promised a Redeemer
and revealed His saving plan.
Pre-Chorus
From the depths of human failure,
God’s mercy would arise;
what was broken through disobedience
would be healed through faithful lives.
Chorus
O Mary, New Eve,
chosen by God’s grace;
where doubt once brought division,
faith restored its place.
Your humble “yes” was offered,
your trust remained true;
and through your faithful obedience,
God’s promise broke through.
Verse 2
The angel came from Heaven
with a message from the Lord;
the fullness of redemption
rested in that sacred word.
No command was forced upon her,
for love must answer free;
God awaited her surrender
to His holy mystery.
“Let it be according
to Your word,” she gently said;
and through that act of faithfulness,
the Savior came instead.
The Son took flesh among us,
the Word became a man;
the promise made in Eden
was fulfilled by God’s own plan.
Pre-Chorus
The Father’s love was shining,
the Spirit moved within;
the Savior of the nations
had come to conquer sin.
Chorus
O Mary, New Eve,
chosen by God’s grace;
where doubt once brought division,
faith restored its place.
Your humble “yes” was offered,
your trust remained true;
and through your faithful obedience,
God’s promise broke through.
Bridge
Eve listened to the serpent,
and sorrow filled the earth;
Mary listened to the angel,
and hope received its birth.
Eve reached for what was forbidden,
seeking wisdom on her own;
Mary trusted in the Father
and welcomed Heaven’s throne.
The first brought grief and exile,
the second pointed to the Way;
and through her faithful witness,
Christ came to save the day.
Final Chorus
O Mary, New Eve,
blessed among women;
through your trust in God’s promise,
the Light entered our darkness.
Not by your own power,
but by God’s grace alone;
you pointed us to Jesus,
the eternal Father’s Son.
O Mary, New Eve,
your song still echoes true:
“Let it be done according
to His word” in all we do.
Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord;
let it be done to me according to your word.
Amen.
