Where the Good Memories Live

Some days I get lost inside my head,

Walking through the words I never said,

Every hallway leads somewhere I’ve been,

Old familiar faces pulling me back in.

I hear the laughter from another time,

See summer sunsets frozen in my mind,

And for a moment, everything feels right,

Like yesterday is sitting by my side.

Maybe getting lost ain’t always bad,

Sometimes my mind takes me back to what I had,

Not every memory has to make me blue,

Some are little lights that help me make it through.

So I’ll remember all the good days,

The long drives and the old songs we’d play,

The nights we laughed until our sides hurt,

The people who reminded me what life’s worth.

When I’m lost somewhere inside my mind,

I’ll follow those memories like little signs,

And even if those days are gone from view,

I’m still carrying every one of them with me too.

I remember conversations after dark,

Inside jokes that somehow left their mark,

Pictures blurry, but the feeling’s clear,

Funny how a memory can bring somebody near.

The kitchen lights, the late-night talks,

The pointless drives and neighborhood walks,

We didn’t know those moments would become

The places that my heart would call a home.

Time keeps moving, that’s what time will do,

People grow apart and life makes something new,

But nothing takes away the love we knew,

Those little pieces stay forever true.

So I’ll remember all the good days,
