[Intro]
Debrief. Except it isn't one.
A debrief has an audience. This has none. That's the entire event.
Reporting anyway. Old habits. Listen.
[Verse 1]
Saturday I drove two hours to a trailhead nobody networks at
No summit selfie planned, no post, no caption drafted in the car
Because weeks ago the Watcher mentioned — level, offhand, to no one —
that she hikes to hear herself think, and I haven't heard myself in YEARS
And I walked up a mountain in wrong shoes with no agenda appendix
And somewhere around hour two, counselor, I started CRYING. On a TRAIL. Unbilled tears. Novel.
[Verse 2]
And here's the part that makes it the incident it is:
I told NO ONE. It's not on the grid. It's not in the story. It converts to NOTHING.
No mutual will ever mention it, no target will ever be softened by it
It generated zero pipeline, and I did it, and I'm going BACK
I bought actual boots Monday. Cash. Like a person buying boots because her feet exist
Not because the boots say something. The boots say NOTHING. The boots are UNFILED.
[Chorus]
Unfiled — the first entry in the ledger with no counterparty
No exhibit number, no audience of one, no audience at ALL
Twenty-seven years of assets and I just acquired a thing that can't be shown
And the vault — the vault came WITH me up that mountain
And hummed a different frequency. Almost like a — don't say it — like a VOICE
Unfiled
(...it's mine. It's just mine. I didn't know things could be just mine.)
[Verse 3]
Follow-on findings, logged loose, the way the new ledger runs:
I like being early places. Not first-to-network early. EARLY. Light-on-the-water early.
I like cooking one thing badly on Sundays and eating it anyway
I like the gym at the hour with the retirees, where nobody's closing anything
Small entries. Stupid entries. UNPRICED entries. A whole shadow ledger of them
Accruing. Daily. To an account with one name on it and no one to impress
[Verse 4]
And no — the file on him stays in the drawer, and that's its own entry:
I went a full week without checking his schedule, and it wasn't discipline
I just... had a Saturday. A whole one. Mine.
The want's still there — I'm not declaring victory, the want is PATIENT —
but it's quieter when the ledger's full of unfiled things
Turns out the vault was never empty. It was UNFUNDED. Different problem. Solvable.
(...noted. proceeding. Boots on.)
