(Pre-Chorus)
You did not establish many churches,
nor divided doctrines among men;
one Body, one faith,
one baptism unto salvation.
And the keys of the Kingdom You entrusted
to Peter by Your holy will,
to strengthen all believers
and shepherd Your Church.
Before the New Testament was written,
Your Church proclaimed salvation;
the apostles preached throughout the world
the truth received from the Lord.
The Bible did not fall from Heaven,
nor was faith born from private interpretation;
Your Church preserved the Scriptures
through the Spirit of God.
In Caesarea You asked:
“Who do you say that I am?”
And Peter answered with faith:
“You are the Christ, the Son of God.”
Then You declared with authority:
“Upon this rock I will build My Church,
and the gates of hell
shall never prevail against it.”
(Pre-Chorus)
You did not establish many churches,
nor divided doctrines among men;
one Body, one faith,
one baptism unto salvation.
And the keys of the Kingdom You entrusted
to Peter by Your holy will,
to strengthen all believers
and shepherd Your Church.
(Chorus)
One Church You founded, O Christ!
Upon apostolic rock it stands;
through the centuries it remains alive,
for Your Spirit sustains it, Lord.
Neither empires nor persecution
destroyed Your holy truth;
the faith preached by the apostles
Your Church still preserves today.
Many writings once appeared
claiming to speak the truth;
but Your Church discerned with wisdom
which came from You, O Lord.
The councils recognized the canon
inspired by the Spirit of God;
and thus the Holy Bible was preserved
to proclaim salvation to the world.
(Bridge)
Faith is not without obedience,
for faith without works is dead;
whoever hears but does not live Your Word
builds his house upon the sand.
But whoever keeps Your commandments
and remains within the truth
builds upon the solid rock
that stands for eternity.
Your Word and Sacred Tradition
have always walked together;
for the same Holy Spirit guides
Your Church until the end.
And though many became divided,
Your Church still proclaims
the fullness of salvation
Christ entrusted to the world.
(Final)
Glory to the Father who calls us,
glory to the Son, our Savior,
glory to the Holy Spirit
who guides the Church of the Lord.
May all the world come to know
the truth Christ gave to us:
one apostolic faith,
one Church established by God.
(Chorus)
One Church You founded, O Christ!
Upon apostolic rock it stands;
through the centuries it remains alive,
for Your Spirit sustains it, Lord.
Neither empires nor persecution
destroyed Your holy truth;
the faith preached by the apostles
Your Church still preserves today.
“One Church, One Faith.”
“One Church One Faith.”
