Christ came into the world proclaiming
the eternal Kingdom of salvation;
He founded His Church upon the Rock,
forever guided by His Spirit and love.
The apostles carried to the nations
the truth that He Himself had taught;
and through their preaching and their martyrdom,
the holy faith spread throughout the world.
There was not yet a complete book
like the Bible we now know today;
the Church preserved the Gospel faithfully
through preaching and the sacraments.
What Christ entrusted to the Twelve
was handed on with faithfulness;
and the Holy Spirit protected
the truth of the universal Church.
(Pre-Chorus)
Many writings began to appear,
but not all were inspired by God;
with wisdom and discernment, the Church recognized
which ones truly carried the voice of the Lord.
(Chorus)
The Bible was born within the Church of Christ,
guarded through centuries of faith;
the apostles planted the truth,
and the Church made it known to the world.
It was Catholic Christians who defended
the fullness of Divine Revelation;
through martyrs and saints, the inspired Word of God
was faithfully preserved for every generation.
“Bible” means sacred books,
an eternal treasure of salvation;
it did not fall from Heaven fully formed—
the Church gathered each inspired writing.
Guided by the Holy Spirit,
the shepherds of the Church discerned
the true and holy Scriptures
that every Christian was called to believe.
Amid persecutions,
imprisonment, fire, and suffering,
Christians protected the sacred texts,
risking their very lives out of love.
Many even shed their blood
to defend the faith of the Lord;
and through God’s providential care,
those holy manuscripts reached the world.
Matthew wrote to proclaim Him,
Mark declared His mighty power;
Luke revealed His mercy,
John unveiled His divine glory and being.
Paul taught the Churches
the doctrine Christ had entrusted to him;
and Peter strengthened the brethren
just as Jesus had commanded him.
(Pre-Chorus)
Sacred Tradition and Holy Scripture
flow forth from the very same truth;
for Christ left behind a living Church,
not merely a text for private interpretation.
(Chorus)
The Bible was born within the Church of Christ,
guarded through centuries of faith;
the apostles planted the truth,
and the Church made it known to the world.
The very Church that Christ Himself founded
preserved Divine Revelation;
and to all nations she handed down the Bible
so the world might know salvation.
(Bridge)
It was not invented by emperors,
nor created through earthly power;
long before Constantine, there already existed
bishops, martyrs, and the faith.
Within the catacombs they worshiped,
celebrating the breaking of the bread;
and the Church was already called Catholic
long before freedom was granted.
Saint Ignatius himself once wrote:
“Where Christ is present, there is
the Catholic Church of the Lord,”
which shall never abandon the truth.
(Final)
Thank You, Lord, for Your holy Church,
the pillar and foundation of the truth;
