I heard her feet this morning.
And they were kicking off the wall.
The sound turned into jumping,
And I was praying she didn’t fall.
And when I opened up the door,
She yelled out, “Daddy” with a smile.
Like she hadn’t seen me in a lifetime,
But it had only been a little while.
She’s got little feet in big shoes,
Dancing around the living room.
Whenever I look at her I don’t know what to do.
She’s got a heart that changes minds, and a hug that I swear stops time.
I can tell when she grows up, she’ll be like you.
But for now she has little feet in big shoes.
I see glimpses of her faces.
And I’ve seen them all before.
When I was looking back through albums, your parents grabbed out of a drawer.
I see her eyes that sparkle
And the joy I wish was mine.
But the little girl in those albums, Isn’t on my shoulder crying.
And I hope for my sake
She turns out a different way
Because how can I love you
Times two
She’s got little feet in big shoes,
Dancing around the living room.
Whenever I look at her I don’t know what to do.
She’s got a heart that changes minds, and a hug that I swear stops time.
I can tell when she grows up, she’ll be like you.
But for now she has little feet in big shoes.
