While the table is set and the feast is grand
Outside, life is ruthless across the land
I draw the curtains to hide the sight
And try to silence my conscience tonight
My feet are planted on ground so still
While bare feet wander against their will
To share the sorrow, to share the glee
To feel your pain as it burns in me
On the fifth floor, there’s a cry and a strain
A brand new life is born through the pain
On the sixth floor, another cry in the air
The sound of a parting, a heavy despair
Two different prayers at the exact same time
Reach the ears of God in a silent climb
Love is the motion, the spark, the rod
The only answer that comes from God
