When I Pray

All I can think about is what I did wrong
Every little failure playing on and on
Every missed step, every harsh word said
Echoes in my heart, won’t leave my head
I try to be strong, but I fall apart
Carrying the weight of a restless heart
The mirror tells me I’ll never change
Shame keeps calling out my name


But when the noise gets loud inside my mind
There’s only one place I can find


When I pray to Jesus, the darkness fades away
All the things I couldn’t fix don’t matter like they did yesterday
He takes my broken pieces, puts them back in place
Speaks mercy over every mistake
When I lay it at His feet, my soul is free again
All I can’t do right don’t stand a chance

I count my flaws like they’re trophies on a shelf
Blaming every problem on myself
Trying hard just to be enough
But grace reminds me love is tough
I hear His whisper through my tears
“Child, I’ve been here all these years”
And suddenly the weight I bear
Feels lighter in His care


When doubt is louder than my faith
I call His holy name

It’s about surrender
Not about performance
It’s about the Savior
Every fear, every scar
He knows exactly who we are
And still He loves us just the same


So I’ll fall on my knees
With every worry
Every burden I carry


When I pray to Jesus, peace begins to flow
All the voices telling lies don’t have control
He turns my mess to message, my trials into praise
Shines His light into my darkest days
When I lay it at His feet, my heart can stand again
All I can’t do right finds grace within
Everything’s okay
