I sat beside her bed and held her hand through all of it
I watched her fight so hard — I watched her slowly submit
To the mercy of a God she'd served for seventy years of living
And in her final hours she whispered something I keep reliving
She said "Don't you cry too long — I'm going somewhere beautiful
I've heard about the place He's making — I've heard it's plentiful
I've got a room with my name on it — He told me long ago
And when the time is right, He's coming back — and I am ready to go"
There's a room with my name on it — in my Father's house
There's a room prepared and waiting — Jesus promised on His way out
I will come again and receive you — unto Myself He said
So that where I am — you may be also — there's a room ahead
Heaven is not a fairy tale — it's a promise from His own lips
In my Father's house there are many mansions — He built one that fits
There's a room with my name on it — I'm going home someday
He went to prepare a place for me — and He's coming back one day
This world can be so heavy — the grief comes in like a tide
The ones we love get taken and we don't know how to abide
In the kind of faith that holds on past the graveside and the song
But eternity is louder than the grave — and the grave is not the home
Because if this life was all we had — then the sorrow would win
But the story doesn't end with a casket or the shape that it's in
He said I go to prepare — active, present, working on the rooms
And one day every separation will be swallowed by the bloom
There's a room with my name on it — in my Father's house
There's a room prepared and waiting — Jesus promised on His way out
I will come again and receive you — unto Myself He said
So that where I am — you may be also — there's a room ahead
Heaven is not a fairy tale — it's a promise from His own lips
In my Father's house there are many mansions — He built one that fits
There's a room with my name on it — I'm going home someday
He went to prepare a place for me — and He's coming back one day
Eye has not seen — ear has not heard
What God has prepared for the ones who love Him — it's beyond every word
No more crying — no more dying — no more pain on that shore
No more empty chairs at Christmas — no more knocking on a door that won't open anymore
He's wiping every tear away with His own hand
He's making all things new — He has a plan
And the ones we said goodbye to — who knew His name
Are already in the room that He prepared — waiting for the day we came
Heaven is real — heaven is real — heaven is real
He said it — Jesus said it — I believe it — heaven is real
There's a room with my name on it — in my Father's house
There's a room prepared and waiting — He gave His word — I have no doubt
I will come again and receive you — He said it and it's true
So that where I am — you may be also — a room for me and you
Heaven is real — the promise is real — the preparation is real
In my Father's house — in my Father's house
He's coming back — He's comi
