I got the call from the doctor, heard a word I didn't want to hear
Sat in my car in the parking lot, couldn't see for all my tears
My body felt like a stranger — the one I'd trusted all these years
But somewhere in the hospital hallway, I felt the Lord draw near
He said, "I know what it feels like to suffer in the flesh
I know what it means to be broken — I've already passed that test
I carried more than your sickness when they laid the cross on Me
And every wound I wore that day was wearing your name, child — you are free"
By His stripes, I am healed
What He suffered on that hill was real
Every lash that fell on Jesus' back
Was buying back what the enemy stole — and I want it back
By His stripes, by His stripes
I declare what the Word of God has sealed
He was wounded for my transgressions
By His stripes, I am healed
I won't lie — some days the pain gets louder than the promise in my heart
Some mornings I need help just rising — this disease has got a hard start
But I've seen too much of God to let the diagnosis be the final word
I know a Man who walked out of a tomb — the impossible is not absurd
So I open up my mouth and I speak to what is broken in my bones
I command this sickness, "Yield to Jesus" — I don't fight this fight alone
And when the healing doesn't happen in the hour that I want
I choose to trust the Healer even when I still feel the brunt
By His stripes, I am healed
What He suffered on that hill was real
Every lash that fell on Jesus' back
Was buying back what the enemy stole — and I want it back
By His stripes, by His stripes
I declare what the Word of God has sealed
He was wounded for my transgressions
By His stripes, I am healed
He took the thorns, He took the nails
He took the spear into His side
He wore my pain so I wouldn't have to carry it for the rest of my life
He bore my grief, He carried my sorrow
Isaiah saw it — a Man well-acquainted with pain
But on the third day the grave couldn't hold Him
And if He rose — then healing is His name
Healing is His name — healing is His name
The same power that raised Him lives in me
By His stripes — oh, by His stripes — I am free
By His stripes, I am healed
What He suffered on that hill was real
Every lash that fell on Jesus' back
Was buying back what the enemy stole — I want it back
By His stripes, by His stripes
I declare what the Word of God has sealed
He was wounded for my transgressions
He was bruised for my iniquities
By His stripes — say it — By His stripes
I am healed
