Better Than

I’m not tryin’ to change who I am. I’m just tryin’ to be better than I was.

Sometimes when I’m tryin’ to speak from a place of pain, I go silent for fear it sounds like I’m speakin’ weakness.

Wantin’ to be heard quickly turns to hurt when words get turned around and reversed. We both want the same thing and feel the same way. We’re just coming from different angles.

I’m not tryin’ to change who I am. I’m just tryin’ to be better than I was.

The dreams we have together are bigger than the space between us. This is just a season, not somethin’ meant to defeat us because love never stops talking, sometimes it just gets quiet and that’s why.

We’re both human, and sometimes there will be tension, but the chaos and confusion wasn’t meant to be.
