I met a girl just recently who reminds me of myself.
She wears her heart out on her sleeve – stores confidence on a shelf.
But the love and strength within her soul barely describes her wealth.
She’s compassionate and truly kind – her smile lights up her face!
She's quick to offer helping hands, or a genuine, warm embrace.
Yet she’s introspective often with some thoughts she can’t erase.
She isn’t afraid to speak her mind – debate her if you dare!
Her will and her beliefs are strong, But her words are always fair -
So, I get confused... with all this strength, she’s still so unaware
Of the spirit, worth and value that her heart holds deep inside -
But some memories of days long passed no longer should reside
Within her heart so beautiful! Shove those useless thoughts aside!
Her aura exudes such energy - she captivates the crowd.
Yet she often wears about her head a dark, self-conscious shroud.
“We have faith in your determined soul! I’ll make you see,” I vowed.
“Look at me, Girl... DON’T turn away!” I pinched her quivering cheek...
“I KNOW me, and my demons too!” I hear her painfully squeak.
She’s close to tears – I don’t know why – and it’s difficult to speak.
OH, the words I said a blink ago? She makes me think of ME!
Life was GOOD because I WAS TOO!! Understanding set me FREE!
Girl, I see love and strength within your eyes – Think, and you’ll agree
You are the most amazing soul I’ve met in quite some time.
We ALL make mistakes… We ALL get up… We re-adjust our mind...
To create our own future and fate: to fail or turn out fine.
It’s up to each of us alone – no teacher, parent or friend
Can make decisions for us, remain tough but don’t offend
Rely on our full heart and soul, forever be a friend.
My decisions and my actions make the world that I create.
If I’m lashing out in anger, I’ve created MY OWN HATE!
And regardless where I am today, TOMORROW WILL BE GREAT!
Don’t let old, ugly demons tear through your heart so true.
We ALL have made poor mistakes we wish we could undo.
But it’s so unfair to let those you love blame their past on you!
Believe me when I tell you, you’re AMAZING in every way!
I believe in you as a PERSON, and have so since that day
You walked into my life and heart. I hope you’re here to stay!!!
