Prompt / Lyrics
Our big boy Chip, about seventy pounds, Silly Lab-pit teen where chaos abounds. He won’t go for walks —it’s useless to try- Yet leave a gate open you’ll da watch him fly! Frightened of water like it causes pain, Refuses car rides again and again. When strangers pass by, he is our Savior… Fighting off danger with his behavior! Barking and squealing he runs through his door, All dirt from the yard gets tracked on our floor. Each day, it seems, he acts much more crazy! But hey, you can’t say our Chip is lazy! It may seem he’s void of dog-common sense, But the love Chip gives is truly immense. This intelligent dog may lose control, But his devotion runs deep in his soul. Chip knows what he’s doing while wrapping his paws Around Dad’s neck. He rejects all dog laws. His 70 pounds still plop on Dad’s lap Settling in for a comfortable nap. Sweetly he snuggles onto Dad’s shoulder Hope that still happens when Chip grows older! A bushel a day is what he must shed, Strangely, we STILL let him sleep on our bed! At bedtime he paces to keep things in line- With noise, he’ll jump up to guard every time! I could have said NO – so glad I didn’t! Our life is blessed as our Chip’s within it!!
