“His mother said to the servants, ‘Do whatever He tells you.’”
— John 2:5
“This, the first of His signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.”
Verse 1
There was a wedding feast one day
in Cana of Galilee;
family and friends had gathered there
in joy and harmony.
Mary was invited,
and Jesus also came;
the hour was drawing closer
to reveal His holy Name.
Then quietly she noticed
a need no one had seen;
the wine had all been emptied,
and concern had filled the scene.
A mother’s loving heart perceived
what others did not know;
and trusting in her Son alone,
she brought Him every woe.
Pre-Chorus
She did not seek attention,
nor glory for her name;
she simply brought the need to Christ
and trusted Him the same.
Chorus
Do whatever He tells you,
listen to His voice;
follow where He leads you,
and in His love rejoice.
Do whatever He tells you,
trust Him day by day;
for Jesus is the Savior,
the Truth, the Life, the Way.
Verse 2
The servants stood before Him,
awaiting His command;
He told them to fill the jars
with water close at hand.
They listened and obeyed Him,
though they did not understand;
and through their faithful action,
they witnessed God’s own hand.
The water then was changed to wine,
a sign of grace divine;
revealing Christ’s great glory
according to God’s design.
The disciples saw His power
and placed their faith in Him;
the miracle at Cana
made Heaven’s light grow bright.
Pre-Chorus
The path of true discipleship
is simple and profound;
to hear the voice of Jesus Christ
and build on solid ground.
Chorus
Do whatever He tells you,
listen to His voice;
follow where He leads you,
and in His love rejoice.
Do whatever He tells you,
trust Him day by day;
for Jesus is the Savior,
the Truth, the Life, the Way.
Bridge
From Eden to the Cross,
from Cana to Heaven’s throne,
Mary’s mission never changed:
to lead us to her Son.
The Woman long foretold,
the Mother given in love,
the Ark, the faithful disciple,
now reigns with Christ above.
Yet still her message echoes
wherever hearts may be:
“Look not to me, but follow Him
who came to set you free.”
Final Chorus
Do whatever He tells you,
the words still guide us now;
to trust in Christ completely
and before His presence bow.
Do whatever He tells you,
the message still remains;
for Jesus Christ is Lord of all,
forever He shall reign.
Do whatever He tells you,
and walk the narrow way;
for every road that follows Christ
leads to endless day.
“His mother said to the servants, ‘Do whatever He tells you.’”
“Whatever He says to you, do it.”
Amen.
