“Woman, behold your son.”
“Behold, your mother.”
Verse 1
Upon the hill of Calvary,
beneath the darkened sky,
the Savior hung upon the Cross
to suffer and to die.
Beside Him stood His Mother,
her heart pierced through with pain;
yet faithful to her Son she stood
through sorrow and through shame.
The hour of our redemption
had finally come to pass;
the Lamb of God was offering
His life to save the lost.
And from the Cross He spoke words
the world would never lose;
a gift of love for every soul
who follows and believes.
Pre-Chorus
The Savior was not leaving
His children all alone;
He gave a loving Mother
to help us journey home.
Chorus
Behold your Mother,
hear the Savior’s voice;
a gift of love from Calvary,
a reason to rejoice.
Behold your Mother,
full of faith and grace;
who always leads her children
to Christ’s saving embrace.
Verse 2
The beloved disciple
stood faithfully nearby;
receiving from the Master
one final sacred sign.
“Behold your Mother,”
Jesus gently said;
and from that very hour
the disciple took her home.
More than care and shelter,
more than earthly need;
the Lord was forming bonds of grace
for all who would believe.
For every faithful disciple
is called to hear that call;
to welcome Christ’s own Mother
with trust and love for all.
Pre-Chorus
The family of believers
was growing at the Cross;
united by the Savior
who redeemed the lost.
Chorus
Behold your Mother,
hear the Savior’s voice;
a gift of love from Calvary,
a reason to rejoice.
Behold your Mother,
full of faith and grace;
who always leads her children
to Christ’s saving embrace.
Bridge
The Woman first foretold
when Eden’s hope was given,
now stood beside the Savior
as He opened Heaven.
The Mother of the Lord
became a mother too
to all who keep God’s Word
and seek His will to do.
Her mission has not ended,
her love remains the same;
she points us to her Son alone
and glorifies His Name.
Final Chorus
Behold your Mother,
a gift from Christ above;
a witness of His mercy,
a sign of faithful love.
Behold your Mother,
and hear her gentle plea:
“Do whatever He tells you,”
for all eternity.
Behold your Mother,
the servant of the Lord;
who always leads her children
to Jesus Christ, the Word.
“And from that hour the disciple took her into his own home.”
“Do whatever He tells you.”
Amen.
