My silly little Lilly laying on a Lily pad
I’ll say it outloud I’m so proud that I am your dad
You’re eyes you’re cry’s I’m addicted to you’re sound’s
When you are happy or upset you’re smiles an you’re frowns.
Toothless grins or your ruthless ways of pinching skin when your cranky
Needing to be changed or a bottle made while holding your blankie.
The gift of life what they say is right having kids changes your thinking
Instead of risking it all climbing thinking you won’t fall drowning an sinking.
As you see them grow you want to slow down time completely
Not sending them off to college or to be an alcoholic discreetly.
The heartbreak as they take their stuff an hit the road
Having an empty room trying to resume life all alone.
Hearing their problems giving advice to solve them when growing older
Telling them how life gets colder an you need to be tough like a soldier.
Daily struggles but they are healed with your baby snuggles
Watching you blow bubbles or stomp an run through mud puddles.
Trying to walk learning how to talk it’s all mesmerizing
Playing peekaboo surprising you, your laughs are energizing.
So many faces when your tasting
different kinds of foods
Constipation is starting
your poop is hardening time to bust out the prunes.
