Let me sleep

I want to sleep forever. Don’t tell me to wake up because it’s not worth it. I look around and everything has shattered to pieces. You’re lighting the fire in me. When it’s too dark for me to see that we were never meant to be. You shift the coals to rekindle my flame, when all I do is take the blame. I take the pain. It cuts so deep. Lay me to rest. Let me sleep in peace. Heaven’s knocking on my door. I’m ready to open it and be no more. I dug my grave long ago. You can’t save me. Bury me gently in a field with daisies. Maybe someday you’ll be able to join me. Live on and be happy.
