I didn’t kill my demon—

I taught him how to wait.

Fed him every shattered piece,

Then sealed the iron gate.

He learned the sound of footsteps,

He learned the taste of fear,

And every time I turn the key,

I swear I hear him sneer.

He doesn’t scream.

He doesn’t pray.

He only watches…

He only waits.
