Sunrise hits the trailer, coffee’s bitter black,
We’re geared up for a long haul, no time to slack,
But in rolls Johnny Two-Left-Feet, a walking trainwreck,
Droppin’ hammers, swear he’s got two left hands and a crooked neck.
Every damn day, same old show,
You’d think he’s tryin’, but he’s movin’ way too slow,
We grit our teeth, but we can’t deny,
This crew’s just less without that screw-up guy.
He’s the king of chaos, master of mistakes,
Knockin’ down the scaffolds, breaking all the stakes,
Slippin’ on the gravel, swear he’s out of glue,
But we all know and love that one idiot on the crew.
Yeah, that one idiot on the crew,
Never does what he’s told, but somehow pulls through,
We yell, we curse, but we ain’t got no clue,
How the hell we’d get by without that fool.
Saw dust in his eyes, a twisted blueprint in his hand,
Tried to read it backward, built a house in no-man’s land,
Forgot the bolts, lost the plans, and spilled the gas,
When Johnny’s ‘workin’ it’s a miracle it lasts.
The boss is yellin’, the clock’s runnin’ dry,
Johnny’s out there laughin’, lookin’ way too high,
Can’t fire him now, ‘cause in the darkest night,
He’s the fool who somehow makes it all right.
Sometimes he drives us crazy,
Makes us wanna walk away,
But when the hard times hit us,
He’s the first one here to stay.
Through the dust and broken dreams,
When the world’s gone wrong it seems,
That idiot’s heart beats true,
The backbone of the crew.
Last week he fell from the ladder, landed in the mud,
Came up grinnin’, covered head to toe in blood,
Said, “Boys, I’m fine, just bruised, keep pushin’ through,”
That’s the kinda stubborn love only Johnny knew.
That one idiot, that one damn fool,
Makes the whole damn crew feel a little more cool...
