[Intro]
Ceiling. New file. Historical division.
Today I learned this gym has a hall of fame.
It has one banner in it.
[Verse 1]
Transparency mode, Tuesday, and some guy rolls up mid-rack
"Hey — how's Jordyn doing?" — and the standard doesn't blink: "Good, I think.
Busy. Lancaster now." — and they nod like that's a whole conversation
And I'm two racks down like: who is Jordyn. WHO. IS. JORDYN.
'Cause the man asked like a pilgrim, and that name had weight on it
Like a banner in the rafters. Retired number. Season ticket.
[Verse 2]
So I ran the floor for lore and honey, the floor DELIVERED:
Five-ten. Blonde. Built like a rumor. Talked to everyone. Belonged to no one.
The all-time number one, undisputed, every bracket, every year
And the pilgrim guy acts besties — desk girl says: "they got coffee. Twice."
COFFEE. TWICE. WITH THE STANDARD.
Ceiling, there is PRECEDENT. Log it. Frame it. We'll come back to it.
[Chorus]
How's Jordyn — the whole floor still asks
Graduated, gone, and they still hang the flag
'Cause the prettiest girl this gym has ever had
Was never just the prettiest girl this gym has ever had
And that's the twist, that's the file, that's the find
She was the whole package and the package left
On purpose. For a life.
How's Jordyn. How's Jordyn.
(...how would they ask that about mine?)
[Verse 3]
So obviously I researched — respectfully — full historical deep dive
Braced myself for influencer grid, gym fits, maybe a smoothie brand
Found a LAW DEGREE. A LOBBYIST. Statehouse things I had to search
The prettiest girl in gym history has a CV that could hurt
She didn't leave for a boyfriend, didn't vanish, didn't fade
She moved cities for a CAREER. People with lives are portable. Noted. Flagged.
[Verse 4]
And here's what it broke, ceiling, 'cause it broke a thing I built:
I had a taxonomy — girls like me in one drawer, serious people somewhere else
Two categories, load-bearing, holding up my whole excuse
And Jordyn's both. So the drawers are fake. So the excuse is too.
And the part that actually got me, the part that's staying with me still:
If I left tomorrow — who asks the floor how I'M doing? ...Exactly. Drill.
[Bridge]
'Cause the gym remembers substance — it forgets a pretty face in a week
There's a hundred cute rotating through, and no one hangs a flag for cheek
But a whole person leaves a hole shaped like a whole entire person
And the standard answers for her, months on: "good, I think. Busy."
That's the banner. That's the whole award ceremony.
Be somebody worth a "how's she doing." That's the economy.
[Outro]
Filing complete, ceiling:
Role model located. Retroactively. Never met her.
Also filed: coffee. With the standard. Exists. Precedent.
(Not yet. Not for grip reasons. For whole-person reasons. Someday.)
New goal on the board, right under the why:
Be a banner.
(...how's Jordyn)
