Who was this man who passed on by?
I think I’ve seen his face before
He looks like someone I have seen
A man the people called the Lord.
I saw him up in Bethany
He called a dead man from the grave.
I think I saw him walking tall
upon the sea of Gallilee’s waves
When I was thirsty he made wine
While at a wedding far away
I once was hungry way up north
And he made bread and fish that day.
And now he’s looking worse for wear
A cross upon his wounded back
The weight is more than he can bear
The strength to carry it he lacks
I followed on up to the cross
another carried it for him
They nailed his hands to that old cross
I’m told that’s how he died for sin.
And now I saw them take him down
After he died upon that tree
they rushed him off and out of town
to put him in a tomb for free
Then as I left on Sunday morn
I saw something I recall
I saw that man, the same that died
He was alive and walking tall!
