Quantrill’s raiders

Out in the hills of Missouri Land

Lived a mighty and fearsome band

Men full of fight and courage and steel.

Roamin the prairies with intention to kill.

Quantrill’s raiders were a violent gang.

Got up in the mornin just to cause some pain.

Went out to Kansas to make some sound

Burned down Lawrence to the ground.

Abraham Lincoln didn’t like that much

Sent an army just to eat their lunch.

As they lay a sleepin in the Wadesburg town

Soldiers down from Clinton tried to rouse them out.

Chased them through the county up to Pleasant Hill

Then the raiders got away and continued to kill!

Yes, for a few more bloody years

People in Missouri had to wipe their tears

After the war all the rebels got old

Liked to have reunions or so I’m told

Gathered up in Urick just to have their say

Till time took em all up to judgment day
