Prompt / Lyrics
I done woke up, kinda under the weather and got a fucking headache prolly from the night supervisor talking and keeping me up all damn night but I’m still gonna come up with this 8th oilfield Country song throat feels kind of scratchy. Hope I didn’t get tha flu. Could’ve been from the fucking cold front that Blue through a couple days ago. It was like 26 damn degrees only got five days left That makes me really happy then I’ll be able to go home and watch my favorite movie chappy the gangster ass robot number one son , i’ve been thinking about what I’m gonna talk about in this song so I guess I’m gonna talk about my oilfield career. Be a lot easier if I was home with my feet kicked up drinking a beer or running over Deer yeah I said running over deer cause I don’t hunt it’s bad enough I gotta freeze my damn balls off out here in the land of wind and water This is how it all started out. I was 21 years old looking for a job signed up working for Blake work over and drilling make an eight dollars an ten fucking cent an hour did a lot of painting and scrubbing and hooking up loads working with the crane then I got moved up to rough necking making ten ten an hour I was a young whipper snapper faster than a pepper jack rabbit slanging tongs, tripping pipe, even got to throw a spinning chain, but they got outlawed cause to many people were getting their fucking fingers chopped off even when I was home I remember waking up in the middle of the damn night from the pain from slinging tongs that’s when my schedule was seven and seven then they had a big layoff around 1998 so I found a job around the house roofing houses with my buddy Charlie Davis real crazy and hard working dude for about three months then I got the call to go work 21 and 21 in the deep water division working for transocean on a drillship called the pathfinder had to start off as a fucking painter work for them for 10 years then came to the p n a division after about three years, I decided to go into Safety did that for two years and came back to P n a BEEN A FEW YEARS NOW EVEN CAUGHT A JOB IN CALIFORNIA drug up, cause had enough of the oilfield to make the story short I got a job in construction for two years. Didn’t like driving back-and-forth to work so here I am again back in the P n a division glad I didn’t burn down the bridges going back-and-forth. I guess that’s how I’m gonna end this Robert burns oiCountry oldfield Robert Burns you thought that was end the song but I can’t without talking about Joe Bob and Gerald Joe bob could care less if there’s gonna be a tomorrow makes me laugh so hard sometimes I almost piss my britches and Gerald saying he’s about to have another baby not sure how many that makes I lost count at 12 better be glad he don’t live in Mississippi cause they don’t have a cap on child support if you don’t keep up on your payments to take your drivers license that don’t make no sense to me now that’s the end of this 8th Robert Burns oldfield country song
