Prayed at night beside the bed

Quiet, watching everything
Two years old and still no words
But your mind caught everything
Lined things up, stayed in your world
Noise would hit you way too hard
We kept praying for the answers
God kept dealing different cards
Test after test, room to room
Doctors talking soft and slow
Then he said it straight to us
Something we didn’t wanna know

She won’t see like other kids

I just held her where we sit
We prayed for her before she came
God heard every word we said
Just not the way we thought He would
Not the road inside our head

They put on the life we knew
But God don’t make mistakes like that
He trusted us with you
School halls loud, lights too bright
Medicine made your body shake
Ticks you never asked to have
More than you were meant to take
Kids would stare, teachers call
Saying she don’t act the same
Put her where she don’t belong
Like my child was just a name
One day I said that’s enough
Brought you home where you could breathe
Took you off the meds they gave
Watched the real you underneath
House got quiet, you got calm
First time I could see it clear
God was never hurting us
He was working all those years
We prayed for faith
He gave us Faith
We prayed for strength
He gave us you
We prayed for blessings from His hand
He sent one strong enough for two
Neurodivergent, heaven made
Every line already laid
Different mind, but perfect still
Written by His perfect will
World don’t get the way you think
Sometimes I still don’t too
But God knew exactly what He was doing
When He trusted us with you

Not a flaw
Not a broken point of view
Just a different kind of mind
God knew the world would need from you
