Male Tears

As a man, how often does a tear roll down your cheek? 
Is it sadness causing emotional pain so comfort’s what you seek?
Or happy tears - Joy so profound you can’t hold emotions back?
Perhaps you find you never cry - sensitivity seems to lack.
I have found that many men DO cry. Some Often, some much less.
Yet still today male tears are judged as flaws and personal weakness. 
But I wholeheartedly disagree! I find men who can shed tears 
Exhibit Love and understanding with a strength beyond their years. 
The Stark opposite of weakness, it shows courage within their soul 
And frankly, while I raised my boys, that was a significant goal.
I encouraged their valid emotions and the ability to open their heart 
Whether sad or happy or angry… even bitterness plays a part…
If emotions are always hidden -  if you can't share how you feel,
How will anyone understand your heart when your words are real?
So cry when you need to, laugh every day, delve deeper all the while
Compliment strangers, offer a hand, do things to make others  smile…
But most of all, keep your convictions true, and thrive every moment  you can
 You don’t get a chance to live this life over – so cry! Even if you are a man!!
