[Male— Hook]
If I took off from here,
Got my name somewhere everybody could hear, Would you miss me, Would you hit my phone like you used to with me
If I took off one day,
Started doing shows somewhere far away,
Would you miss me,
Sounds ridiculous in my position
Not the body everybody sees on stage
But its my words that make you think
Would you miss me if I became famous
Sometimes I wonder what would really change, If the songs started moving and people knew my pain.
If I went from writing all this in my room
To hearing them somewhere else singing every tune. Would you look at your phone like,
“Damn, did he really make it”
Would you send me something simple,
Like, “I knew you had it in you”
I ain’t talking ’bout attention,
I ain’t trying to prove a point,
I’m just wondering if fame
Would make you miss my voice,
’Cause you know where I’d be,
And knowing everybody
Started asking where to see me
Different sights, different nights,
Different cities, same person underneath,
Hurting to his knees,
I wonder who would notice the regular days
When nobody knew JPB.
If I took off from here,
Got my name somewhere everybody could hear, Would you miss me, Would you still talk the same when you’re talking to me,
If I took off one day,
Started doing shows somewhere far away,
Would you miss me,
Not who I became because of fame
But would you miss for who I used to be
Imagine I’m gone for more than couple of weeks, Busy every night, barely getting anything to eat Putting in the work to much to even sleep, People singing my own shit I forgot I wrote, Hearing my own voice coming out of somebody you didn’t wanna know. That’d be crazy honestly
But fame wouldn’t suddenly make me different, probably get to my head, but I still got a couple of real friends that won’t be in my forget list, I’d probably miss when everything was small,
When making one song felt like I was just writing to get it off my wall, that lead to hundreds more, handfuls behind my door,
And now Before numbers got attached,
Before pictures were wanted,
Before going through a crowd
Meant everybody knew what I’ve kept on hidden, and maybe you’d hear my song somewhere, wonder when you recognize what I’ve written, Tell whoever you’re with,
“Yeah, I knew him before all this came around Before his fame struck out,” Is That the things we imagine about or just me
Would you miss the random conversations
The regular me with no expectations
Before the lights, before the stage,
Before JPB became more than a name in a joke box, finally when I came back around,
Would it feel like nothing changed
Or show off your poker face a lot
If I took off from here,
Got my name somewhere everybody could hear, Would you miss me, Would you save something to tell me when you see me
If I took off one day,
And everything started going my way
Would you miss me, Would you
Love my songs, come to my shows,
Wait out the studios,
When everybody else sees me famous
Would you miss me.
Maybe one day we’ll find out.
Till then,
Back to work,
