Hold Me Like Jesus Would

You say you’re the head, and I try to agree

But sometimes it feels like you’re leading without seeing me

I know God gave you strength to stand and decide

But I need to know you still stand by my side

The Word says love me like Christ loves His bride

With patience, compassion, not just truth and pride

So when I come trembling, don’t meet me with fire

I’m not testing your role—I’m just needing desire

Hold me like Jesus would—tender and near

Not bold with conviction, but calm with my fear

I’m not here to argue, I’m not here to lead

I’m just here as your wife, with a heart that can bleed

I’m not asking for much—just to be understood

So hold me like Jesus would

I miss when your words felt safe and sincere

Back in the days when your writing drew near

Now when I open up, walls rise like stone

And I leave the room still feeling alone

Scripture says love is gentle and kind

It doesn’t dismiss or belittle the mind

You don’t have to fix me or always be right

I just want your love to soften the fight

Hold me like Jesus would—grace in your tone

Not high on a mountain while I cry alone

Not looking down from a headship seat

But sitting beside me, washing my feet

I’m not asking for much—just to be understood

So hold me like Jesus would

You lead the home, I won’t take your crown

But love isn’t leading if it tears me down

Don’t use the Word as a sword to cut through

When Jesus used it to heal and pursue

So hold me like Jesus would—tender and true

Let your love be the strength that I run to

Not just my partner, not just my man

But my covering, my safe place, the gentlest hand

I’m not asking for much—just to be understood
