Lead Me Gently

I’m not asking for perfect, just presence and grace

A little more kindness, a softer embrace

I know that we’re different in how we respond

But I need your heart—not just duty and bond

The Bible says love is patient and kind

Not proud or dismissive, not leaving behind

I’m trying to open, to let you come close

But I need to feel safe when I’m needing you most

So lead me gently, like Christ would lead

With hands that bring comfort, not just what you think I need

Hold me with mercy when my heart’s not strong

Let me feel chosen even when I feel wrong

I don’t need fixing, just someone to see

So love me like Jesus—come gently to me

We once wrote letters, and you felt so near

Your words held emotion, your heart was sincere

But now when I speak, I feel pushed aside

And I ache for connection more than my pride

I’m not here to fight—I’m still on your team

But I need your compassion to feel like a dream

I want to be known, not just touched in the night

To be fully loved, not just held when it’s right

So lead me gently, like Christ would lead

Don’t hush my fears—just sit and let me bleed

Wrap me in kindness, not answers alone

Make your arms a refuge, not a place I postpone

You don’t have to fix me or always agree

Just love me like Jesus—come gently to me

I’m yours, I’ve always been

But I need to be safe in my own skin

And if you forget how to love me well

Let 1 Corinthians 13 ring like a bell

So lead me gently, like Christ would lead

Let your strength be tender when I’m in need

Not just my partner, but my place to rest

A voice that gives grace when I’ve second-guessed

You’re the one I chose, and I still believe

You can love me like Jesus—just come gently to me
