Devils River
You take a glance at a glimpse of what has passed
Mile for mile
Markers go on and on
As you remember those eastern, and western Texas summers
As that dusty grit
Upon your lip
Sweat drawn eyes
And a crooked grin
Levi’s frayed from
Back last June
Oh but the irony
Still sends down shivers
From the Juno, down south Texas,
Where the water flows straight from the Devils River
Live Music band (live acoustic guitar, violin, drums, ect)
Oh but boy, ain’t it just, funny
Coming out a drought,
With no, money
Hard heavy labor
Just fine as a tamed wild colt
But just south of Del Rio,
Stands a place, that I know
Where they say its beautiful and the purest of all kinds
Flowing cross the limestone
Rocky edges like a blindfold
Funny how the Devil River flows just like his eyes
But don’t, you let, that river, lie
It’ll present itself, like nothing else
Hiding those little lies,
And what, might, look like, an
Innocent time
Will steal you and deceive you when those flood waters rise
Live Music band (live acoustic guitar, violin, drums, ect)
Danny and them boys always doin there best
Tryin keep there minds right
And get it off there chest
They’s holdin up anything
To wet their draw
Slow talkin chewing on
Some beach nut chaw
Teeth showin cheek grinnin
Fire burin coals
Toakin on a cigarette
Howlin like a dog
Just a couple a youngens
With another day survived
Oh but boy, ain’t it just, funny
Coming out a drought,
With no, money
Hard heavy labor
Just fine as a tamed wild colt
But just south of Del Rio,
Stands a place, that I know
Where they say its beautiful and the purest of all kinds
Flowing cross the limestone
Rocky edges like a blindfold
Funny how the Devil River flows just like his eyes
But don’t, you let, that river, lie
It’ll present itself, like nothing else
Hiding those little lies,
And what, might, look like, an
Innocent time
Will steal you and deceive you when those flood waters rise
Live Music band (live acoustic guitar, violin, drums, ect)
(Fade out the music and slowly repeat this last verse)
You take a glance at a glimpse of what has passed
Mile for mile
Markers go on and on
As you remember those eastern and western Texas summers
