FRIEND SHIP

What does true friendship mean to my heart?

Just take the actual word apart.

It starts with FRIEND – and we’re all quite aware

A FRIEND is someone who shows that they care.

But let’s look at SHIP. And here it gets real.

The SHIP is solely for those who can feel!

Anyone can say they call you a friend.

But the SHIP means they’ll be strong through the end!

SHIPs are vessels that journey through oceans.

Someone called friend might go through the motions.

Like saying they’ll be there through thick and thin -

But takes steps back if they don’t see you win.

They’re there through the laughter – that part is grand.

But where do they go when you need a hand?

That’s when a TRUE FRIEND jumps onto that SHIP!

Seas may be rough and the wind just won’t quit!

Anyone can say they call you a friend.

But the SHIP means they’ll be strong through the end!

But the proud vessel, so strong and so TRUE

Weathers the tough storms ... like REAL FRIENDS will do!!

Oh, you may hear creaks or groans in complaint -

But TRUE FRIENDS, like SHIPS, keep on like a Saint!

Holding your hand – even when you’re apart...

The warmth of that hand will cradle your heart!

No favor too large – no anguish too small...

The TRUE FRIEND who CARES is there through it all!

So FRIENDSHIP applies to you, my Sweet Love -

Our FRIENDSHIP was sent from Heaven Above!

I’ll hold in my heart my FRIENDSHIP with YOU -

And sail ‘round Earth on that vessel with you!!
