Every single country song
Whines about a truck…
Or love that’s lost or a beer that spilled
Or a guy down on his luck.
If I were to write a country song
I talk about my truck
That glistens in the sunshine
When not covered in mud and muck.
Just think about all the things
My truck has taken care of...
Like carrying tools or freight or kids -
So much more I'm not aware of.
The neighbors ask to use my truck
To haul furniture away
Or bring home new (or new to them)
All their treasures gathered today.
My truck makes everyone happy -
She's big and strong and lean...
Boy, does she ever look purty
When the kids make that truck gleam!
At times I go to her parked out back
Waiting for a rider...
She looks so sad and hopeless
I pause to sit inside her.
Leather seats feel smooth as butter.
Across her windshield runs a crack.
The floor holds years of dirt and grime -
Old memories take me back
To years long gone where she ran all day
I'm sure, at times we abused her ..
The note was tough to pay each month
But we couldn't afford to lose her.
She tied our lives together:
Whether parked or working hard...
My truck, which sits in honor
Out here in our yard.
My truck still makes me happy-
Though it doesn't run today…
Our hearts are filled with her memories
So this truck is here to stay.
My country song includes my truck.
Yep! I’d talk about her too!
I’ll let everyone know I LOVE my truck…
Cuz she brought me home to you!!
