**COME, SUN**

Sun.
I know you are there.
Behind the grey.
Behind the rain.
Behind the heavy curtains
the clouds have pulled
across the sky.
I know you are there.
So come.
Come through.
Break open the clouds
with your golden hands.
Pour yourself
over the rooftops.
Touch the trees.
Wake the flowers.
Warm the stones
beneath our feet.
Come, Sun.
We have been waiting.
Our windows are open.
Our faces are turned upward.
Our skin remembers you.
Kiss the melanin.
Come dance across our shoulders.
Paint gold
where winter tried
to leave its fingerprints.
Rise.
Not because I command you,
but because rising
is what you do.
You have watched
kingdoms appear
and disappear.
Watched oceans move.
Watched mountains grow old.
Watched generations
enter this world,
look toward you,
and understand
without anybody teaching them
that light
means something.
So shine.
Shine on the tired.
Shine on the grieving.
Shine on the children
running barefoot through grass.
Shine through hospital windows.
Through prison bars.
Through bedroom curtains
where somebody has forgotten
what morning feels like.
Find them.
Warm them.
Remind them:
the darkness above their head
does not mean
the light has disappeared.
Sometimes
there are simply
clouds between us.
And clouds move.
Do you hear me, Sun?
COME THROUGH.
Turn the puddles
into mirrors.
Turn the windows
into diamonds.
Turn the whole afternoon
into gold.
Let birds announce you
before we even see you.
Let somebody open their door,
feel your warmth,
close their eyes,
and smile
for absolutely no reason.
That is the miracle
I am calling for.
Nothing complicated.
Just light.
Just warmth.
Just one ancient fire
burning millions of kilometres away
touching one small human face
and somehow
making life
feel possible again.
So come, Sun.
The Earth is turning toward you.
And so am I.
☀️
SHINE.
Not tomorrow.
Not someday.
NOW.
And when the clouds finally part,
I will not say,
"The Sun has returned."
I will say,
"There you are.
You never left."
