Pink rose wrist corsage

I was just a young man

Not much more than a kid

I seemed to get in trouble

For everything I did

But there’s one time I remember

A long long time ago

I asked a girl to a high school dance

And l prayed that she would go

Her name was Becky Walker

The prettiest girl in our class

To my surprise she said yes

I had a date with her at last

She told me that she wanted

A pink rose corsage to wear

But when I went to the flower shop

There’s no pink roses anywhere

I got a date with Becky

But she put me in a bind

She said she liked pink roses

Not any other kind

I looked around all over town

No pink roses to be found

I’ve got the date of my life

And I can’t let Becky down

About a week before the dance

We were out riding around

It was me and my friend Joey

Driving around our town

Halfway down Wilson avenue

I couldn’t believe my eyes

A garden full of pink roses

Much to my surprise

I got a date with Becky

But she put me in a bind

She said she liked pink roses

Not any other kind

I looked around all over town

No pink roses to be found

I’ve got the date of my life

And I can’t let Becky down

We stopped the car and I got out

And went into that yard

I was picking roses from the bush

While Joey was standing guard

We took the roses to the shop

They made that wrist corsage

Out of those pink roses

That I found in that yard

That was many years ago

But she must have been impressed

Becky Walker is now my girl

The roses worked I guess
