Verse 1.
The waters rose like they wanted to swallow me whole,
Fear tried to preach like it had authority over my soul.
But You stepped in the river with me,
Held back the current with Your hand,
And whispered, “I never told you to swim alone —
I told you I’d make you stand.”(Isaiah 43:2 — “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.”)
(Psalm 46:1–3 — “Though the waters roar… God is our refuge.”)
Pre‑Chorus.
Every lie said I was drowning,
But Your truth said I was carried.
Chorus.
When I pass through the waters — You’re there.
When I walk through the fire — You’re there.
Not maybe, not sometimes, not if I’m worthy —
You’re there.
The flames can’t claim me,
The floods can’t name me,
The fear can’t frame me —
Because You’re there.
Verse 2.
The fire cracked like it knew my history,
Like it thought it could burn me back into who I used to be.
But You stepped in the furnace first,
Took the heat that was meant for me,
And said, “Flames don’t get the final word —
I do. I set you free.”(Isaiah 43:2 — “When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned.”)
(Daniel 3:25 — “I see four men in the fire… and the fourth looks like the Son of God.”)
Pre‑Chorus.
Every fear said I was finished,
But Your promise said I was chosen.
Chorus.
When I pass through the waters — You’re there.
When I walk through the fire — You’re there.
Not maybe, not sometimes, not if I’m worthy —
You’re there.
The flames can’t claim me,
The floods can’t name me,
The fear can’t frame me —
Because You’re there.
Bridge.
You said, “I have redeemed you.”
(Isaiah 43:1)
You said, “I have called you by name.”
(Isaiah 43:1)
You said, “You are Mine.”
(Isaiah 43:1)
And every storm, every flame, every valley
Has had to bow to that truth.(Romans 8:38–39 — “Nothing can separate us from the love of God.”)
(Psalm 23:4 — “Even though I walk through the valley… You are with me.”)
Breakdown — (Spoken)Let the waters rise —
They won’t take me.
Let the fire burn —
It won’t break me.
Let the darkness speak —
It won’t shake me.
Because the Holy One walks with me.
Final Chorus.
When I pass through the waters — You’re there.
When I walk through the fire — You’re there.
Not maybe, not sometimes, not if I’m worthy —
You’re there.
The flames can’t claim me,
The floods can’t name me,
The fear can’t frame me —
Because You’re there.
Outro. You never promised I wouldn’t face the storm —
You promised I wouldn’t face it alone.
