While The World Sleeps

Lord...

It's late.

The lights are off.

The house is quiet.

And everybody else seems to be asleep.

But my mind won't slow down.

The worries.

The memories.

The questions.

The fears.

They just keep circling.

So tonight,

before another hour slips away,

I'm bringing all of it to You.

The room is dark, the clock keeps glowing,

Every minute feels the same,

And my thoughts keep running circles

Through every worry I can name.

Tomorrow feels a little heavy,

Yesterday won't leave my mind,

And somewhere in the middle of it all,

I'm still searching for some peace tonight.

When my heart won't stop racing,

When my mind won't turn it down,

Be the calm inside the silence,

Be the comfort that I've found.

God, if You're listening tonight,

My mind won't let me rest,

Every fear keeps getting louder,

Every burden on my chest.

God, if You're listening tonight,

Help me lay these worries down,

And remind me that You're with me

While the world sleeps all around.

Every shadow seems much larger

In the middle of the night,

And the things I handle daily

Somehow feel too big to fight.

But You've seen every tomorrow,

Before I've lived a single one,

So help me trust the road before me,

And the work You've already done.

When my thoughts become a storm cloud,

When they pull me far from peace,

Speak a little louder than them,

And help the noise inside me cease.

God, if You're listening tonight,

My mind won't let me rest,

You never promised every answer,
