The Growing Light

Verse 1
​In the hills of Galilee, beneath the morning sun
The quiet years of preparation had only just begun
No miracles were performed yet, no crowds began to press
Just a Carpenter’s apprentice in the robes of righteousness.

​And He increased in wisdom, the mind of God revealed
He increased in stature, the Strength that would not yield
In favour with the Father, and favour with the man
The Savior growing steady in the hollow of God’s hand.

​From the scrolls of the prophets to the wood beneath His palm
He learned the weight of labor and the stillness of a psalm
Every season had a purpose, every year a holy part
Building up the temple of a perfect, human heart.

​Then came the day of Jordan, when the hidden years were through
The growth of grace within Him met the work He came to do
The wisdom of the Father poured like oil upon His head
To heal the brokenhearted and to give the hungry bread.

But child to lad, and lad to man, as the days went drifting by
He walked the dusty pathways, He knew our every care
Preparing for the heavy cross that only He could bear.
