Fall in
Platoon attention!
Present arms!
I salute the flag and recite the soldiers creed like a motto
I search within myself a vision of the ethos of a warrior
I hear the roaring in my mind
The pride in the words I now utter
Searching for priorities and inner strength
They say we are the flags embodiment
A testified script of discipline and standards
A poised yet ever so mechanical instrument of fighting capabilities
Perhaps we’re here for more than just war with these bodies
A just notion that hearts can be changed
An empathy for all United in representation
A represebtion of unity and divine purpose
The purpose to change hearts and minds and never in a specific order
But a silent whisper of malice still lurks in the air
The stench of dead bodies brown and cut down unfair
The stench of segregation and the era of don’t ask don’t tell
A silent whisper of nightmares not so distant in the rear
Brown Bodies beaten, hanging from trees in states like Alabama
Dark, heinous nightmares that are still a reality like Rodney King
A sound of chackling chains from slave ships that had to be broken
The suffrage carried on the broken backs from whips and scared hands from picking cotton
I can hear the Marching.. the singing Together as one from Doctor Martin Luther King junior….in the not so rear distance

black,
immigrant,
educated
Soldier
Noncommissioned Officer
Leader
All opportunities that would of been denied as a birth right
A cost now paid
A bill now passed down
That I make salute with eyes forward, chest held high
Knowing that my mark was paved by the suffrage generation before me
A ballet of change that I may now sing for generation to come
A salute,
A creed
A position,
A Duty
A obligation
the cross that I now must carry
Change that I must fore go
Laying my own brick to add to the already paved previously rocky path
My salute,
my presence,
my creed,
my leadership..
my suffrage to multiply change.
My Paton I must search the path to someday pass as I lean forward to elevate equality.
That is cost that paid fo
