Well I showed up late, sat in the back pew,
Thought the sermon was done—but oh, not true!
The preacher stood up with a grin so wide,
Said, “Now it’s time to give—don’t try to hide!”

My change stuck together—it had a weird scent!
But the Lord sees the heart, not the coin or the bill,
(Though folding money helps pay the light bill!)

Brother Clyde reached in with a sheepish grin,
Said, “Just makin’ change—I put too much in!”
He shuffled some bills like a backroom deal,
Till the deacon caught Clyde's hand in the till.

We ain’t buyin’ yachts, we’re fixin’ leaks,
And tryin’ to send them teens to camp next week!
