Milestones of Freedom

A little step, a little light, breaking through the night

Today I found my strength in the small victories I fight

Four months ago I was lost, trapped in shadows deep

Voices in my mind, tormenting, stealing sleep

But today I made a stand, took a walk in the store

First time in a long silence, finally felt I could explore

It’s not about the big wins, but the little ones I keep

Holding onto hopes, promises I make to keep

Today I built a fire, started something new

Cooked my simple meal, feeling brave and true

Voices still whisper, but I won’t let them win

My fiance’s voice in my head, telling me I can begin

I got this, I got this, step by step I climb

Healing takes time, in my heart I find

Every small victory, a brick in my new wall

A future where I stand tall, breaking down it all

Though the past still echoes, I choose to move ahead

In each tiny milestone, I find my strength again
