When I was a kid, Yogi Bear made me laugh,

Telling silly stories about bears and their snacks.

But now we know the facts, not just the lore-

Let’s learn about real bears, and so much more!

Verse 1:

When winter comes, black bears take it slow,

They nap a lot, but sometimes go

For a midnight stroll to stretch and sniff-

Their bellies rumble, “Where’s my next dish?”

Banana peels, apple cores, and leftover cheese!

We’ll keep our snacks locked up, so you disappear!

Bears walk for miles, their homes are big,

Through forests and fields, over rocks and twigs.

They climb up trees and knock down logs,

Leave claw marks high and footprints in bogs.

If you see a bear standing up tall,

He’s not a monster-he’s not scary at all!

He’s just being nosy, sniffing the air,

Looking for snacks, but please don’t share!

Be careful with your garbage, don’t leave it in the yard,

Some things can make a bear sick, or hurt them really hard.

Old food, soap, or plastic, things that smell so sweet,

Can poison a hungry bear who thinks it’s just a treat.

Bears don’t know what’s safe to eat, they just follow their nose,

So let’s help them stay healthy, wherever they go.

Keep your stuff inside or locked, don’t leave it out to share,

Let’s all be good neighbors to every wild bear!
