The One Billion Question

Who stole the cookies from the jar last night

Was it the dog or the cat in flight

The crumbs on the floor tell no tale at all

But the milk’s missing too and it’s a big ol’ brawl

The one billion question spinning in my head

Is it all about love or just buttered bread

Do I risk it all for a slice so fine

Or just sit here and ponder the grape juice crime

Why do socks vanish in the laundry abyss

Are they partying somewhere or finding bliss

A portal to Narnia or just bad luck

Either way I’m left with one sad sock

Answers hide in the shadows

They tease and they run

Like a mystery novel but less well done
