Blame It on the Moon
by Robert Ramage

Intro (Spoken / Poetic Monologue)
Blame it on the moon if it makes you feel better,
but the moon fades at the break of dawn,
and excuses fade right with it.
When the light hits truth straight on,
there’s no more hiding in silver shadows.
No more pointing fingers.
No more waiting for someone else to fix your pain.
It’s time to face it…
time to fix the damn thing.
---
Verse 1
Blame it on the midnight sky,
blame it on the way the world turned out.
But when the morning finds you tired,
you’ll see what all that blame was all about.
The moon can’t answer any questions,
it just circles overhead.
And you’re still standing in your story,
with the weight of words you never said.
---
Verse 2
When it all comes down,
you can’t blame anything on anybody.
Stand tall, pull yourself together,
look the truth in the eye, steady.
It’s a new day rising,
yesterday’s already gone—
no need to haul that heavy burden
like a fine you owe but don’t belong.
---
Chorus
So don’t blame it on the moon—
it disappears too soon.
When the daylight breaks,
you’re the only one who can choose.
Leave the shadows behind,
let your heartbeat realign.
Let the light show you the way—
it’s your truth, your climb, your time.
---
Verse 3
You’ve walked through storms of your own making,
chased echoes in the night.
You’ve held onto the wrong things longer
than you held yourself tight.
But there’s freedom in forgiveness,
there’s power in the climb—
you’ll rise higher when you own it,
not when you blame the passing sky.
---
Verse 4
You’ve carried wounds like anchors,
dragging them from day to day.
But the sunrise whispers softly:
“Let the past dissolve away.”
Step out of all that darkness,
let the dawn rewrite your view.
You’re stronger than you realize—
the moon was never holding you.
---
Bridge
Let go of the chains,
let go of the fear.
Every new sunrise
proves your path is still clear.
Start again with courage,
start again with truth—
the world opens wide
when the blame stops with you.
---
Outro
Blame it on the moon if you need to…
for just one last night.
But when tomorrow reaches for you,
step into the light.
No more blame, no more running—
just a new road to begin.
The moon may leave at dawn…
but you stay standing,
you rise again.
