What Am I Doing?

Whispers of a life that's a little torn,

Caught between love and the storm,

Crossing lines that I can't ignore,

What am I doing, oh, what am I for?

I wear my emotions on my skin,

Dancing on edges, full of sin and kin,

Men come near with hopes and fears,

Filling my nights, drowning my tears.

They fall for the face they see,

But behind that mask, who am I truly?

Caught in a cycle that won't break,

Loving and losing, for both our sake.

What have I done, with my eyes, my touch?

Building bridges, breaking just as much,

Holding on tight, then letting go,

Lost in the storm of love and woe.

I care, I care, but part of me fights,

Trying to find wrong from right,

Can’t escape this tangled web,

All I want is peaceful rest.

So I whisper softly into the night,

Hoping someday I'll find the light,

Letting go of pain, holding on to grace,

Searching for a better place.
