I used to fight everything I couldn’t control,

Tried to fix the world instead of healing my soul.

I pointed at flaws, said, “That shouldn’t be,”

But the problem was never out there—it was me.

See, when I’m disturbed, it’s ‘cause I resist,

Some person, some moment I wish didn’t exist.

But nothing in God’s world ever shows up wrong,

Even the pain’s just a verse in my song.

I was loud with judgment, quick to attack,

But slow to reflect and slow to unpack.

Blamin’ the world for what I couldn’t face—

The mirror’s truth, the need for grace.

Acceptance is the answer, I see that now,

Not in control, but in letting go somehow.

I don’t need to fix what I can’t command—

I just need to change what’s in my hands.

It comes from seein’ life exactly as it is.

But missin’ the beauty in life’s rough grace.

A.A. showed me I don’t need to pretend,

That every mess can also mend.

There’s good in the worst, flaws in the best,

We all got battles, we all need rest.

If I complain about you or me,

I’m fightin’ the art God meant to be.

But now I breathe, I let things land,

I stop tryin’ to force what I don’t understand.

Until I could say, “I’m an alcoholic, that’s real,”

I couldn’t find peace, I couldn’t heal.

Now I take life on its own terms, raw,

Even the parts that leave me in awe.
