The Cancer of COVID

The year was twenty-twenty,
Covid had just come around.
I was in that special crowd,
Because the hospital turned me down.

I was deemed elective.

I went home again,
laid down suffering,
because I was deemed elective.

I was deemed elective.

Thirty pounds gone,
to the ER I was bound.
On a gurney, down the hall
then a phone call stopped it all.

I was deemed elective.

Went and tried again,
a CT showed some signs.
But still they sent me home,
because I was deemed elective.

I was deemed elective.

After some time,
I was  malnourished.
I felt it was cancerous,
but I had been deemed elective.

I was deemed elective.

Finally a surgeon said,
“to biopsy you’ll need a bed.”
Finally I wasn’t elective.

Yes, I had cancer again,
they almost killed and that’s a sin,
because I was deemed elective.

But here I am to tell this tale,
six more chemo rounds and I prevailed.
Some doctors and politicians should be in jail,
because I was deemed elective.

I was deemed elective,
till the truth came crashing in.
I was deemed elective,
but the fight was mine to win.
I was deemed elective…
